This is a photo of Miss M happily painting. She didn’t know that it was a small keepsake for a beloved friend who had experienced a miscarriage. Always in our hearts you will be little one. I experienced second hand what it feels as I watched her navigate some tough decisions. Here’s the thing about challenges with fertility. It sneaks up when you least expect it. It doesn’t matter if you already have a baby the challenges are the same. You are ever so grateful for what you have but feel guilty for wanting more. It takes over your whole life- constant tracking of cycles, ovulation kits, pregnancy loss, endless tests, having to cancel plans or simply unsure if you can plan 6mo in advance. The list is endless. The past few weeks I had some tough conversations with expectant moms; no heartbeats on scans, bleeding in early pregnancy, urgent specialist input…It really hits home. Some women shared feelings of hopelessness, unable to fulfill their potential and that their bodies have failed them.To the women who have experienced loss your time together was short. It’s ok to grieve. It was real and it did count. We are here to help you heal, get stronger and rebuild yourself and that you will. Maybe one day Miss M will see the power of her gesture. Just simply being present and available for you on this journey is my gesture to you.
