I WILL RUN LATE FOR YOU

Yesterday was a crazy day. I felt like I was constantly playing catch-up and 20 mins late for most of the day.

I was running late because of possible cervical cancer for someone who thought they would not need any more screening. Goes to show screening is so vital!!! Please check with your GP whether you are eligible and uptodate. Screening is for 25-74yo and currently every 5years but may vary person to person. If you are not sure we can access the National Cervical Screening Register and check. There are self collection kits available and I certainly offer them. I prefer to see you, discuss your health and perform an examination myself but self collection is still a much better alternative than not getting any testing done at all.

⁃ On this kind of day I will run late for you.

⁃ I will spend all the time that is required to guide you through what is possibly going to be one of the hardest pieces of information you have had to digest on your own.

⁃ This information will change your plans.

⁃ This information may not sink in the first time because you may check out as soon as you hear those words. But I will sit with you and let you process it.

⁃ We will meet again and next time possibly with a loved one.

⁃ We will plan and make all the necessary appointments.

⁃ But for these reasons and so many more I will run late for you.

PFA- after a crazy day, I got to daycare and managed to capture a rare moment where the girls decided to hold hands after I put them in the car. My gosh I love my job but I LOVE these girls and what they teach me every day, it’s the little gestures.
