I had a flustered mom come in this week to organise catch up vaccinations for her little boy. She was so upset she got the dates mixed up. Gosh I felt her angst and honestly just wanted to give her a hug and tell her she’s doing a wonderful job!

Two weeks ago I came across a dance festival for kids that would also feature a special guest whom the girls adore. So I made plans to take the girls after swimming on a Saturday morning. Friday night I’m running through my checklist: bathers-check, snacks - check, car’s fueled up- check, TICKETS. HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN!?!?

At 11pm on Friday night I was heart broken, tickets had sold out. Desperately I emailed the event coordinator begging for extra tickets not expecting a response. I posted on social media doing the same incase anyone had spares. I needed to fix this. As I lay in bed I decided that I was just going to drive out there and hope to get a ticket at the door.

Thank goodness we did and I can tell you Emma Memma did not disappoint! What a beautiful, patient soul and she even stopped to give the girls a hug! I couldn’t have thanked her enough for her kindness because Miss M was absolutely star struck but she also helped me let go of my fear of needlessly disappointing my children. Well worth the 1.5hr drive and 1hr to park not knowing if we could even get in!

But the reality is we are going to disappoint our children. We are going to mess up and when we do, we need to forgive ourselves. And while we are on that road to self forgiveness it’s ok to let your guard down and let it all out! Behind these pink scrubs and years of study I am always a mother first, I promise I am not judging. I have shed those tears and to the mama who was in my room I am right there crying with you!
